Kitchen Makeover!

The kitchen in our house was so drab, so we knew it would have to be painted and updated, so we spent all day Saturday painting! (Well, John and his dad did, I just had to keep Kiley out of the mess!)

Now, we also plan to get a new table (ours is ga-ross) but I still feel like it is missing something. Granted, these pictures also show the little bit of mess that is on our counters at all times, but does anybody have any ideas for what else to do? What color table should we get, and should it be square or round? I have pretty much no creative bones in my body, so this is really hard, so all comments/suggestions are appreciated!
